Representatives from autonation were nice and directly accommodated for our needs when the car battery struggled for a bit. The office is situated around 8min by car from Queen Alia's Airport, and a representative picked us up from the airport - so you don't have to worry about getting there. Same for the end of our journey, they dropped us back to the airport with no delay. Overall would recommend.

We had a full itinerary that saw us driving from Amman to Petra, through Wadi Rum and back via Aqaba and the Dead Sea. Driving in Amman was a bit stressful but once away from the city, it was fine. Plenty of fuel stations and well signed.

Renting a car in Jordon is the way forward. It may not be for everyone, it's just I love to drive and be in control.
Google maps get you everywhere and everyone has a smart phone these days. Just remember to bring a craddle for you phone and a long charging lead.
But Google is not 100% accurate as we found out a couple of times. This is what makes our holiday. It's all part of the fun exploring new places.

Jordan can be traveled in normal car fine, however having a slightly raised car with more all terrain tyres helps alot at times as not all roads are roads and some are more tracks.

Its always best to rent a car especially 4x4 if you are with family and luggage. Jordan is primarily a mountainous region and there are certain places where its better to use 4x4 then a car. I drove almost 1300 KMs and visited Amman, Jerash, Ajloun, Salt, Karak, Mu'ta, Petra, Wadi Rum, Aqaba, Madaba, Dead Sea. All these areas have various sites to visit especially if you are on a tourism visit with your family. Would recommend you keep water bottles with you all the time especially in summer and also snack and choco
